What does it means when your child is referred to as tactile?
Q. My son's teacher has mentioned this a few times and I don't fully understand what she means. Can someone please explain in regular layman's language?

A. Hey Joy! Educators have learned that everyone learns in different ways, and that they should be taught according to the best way that they learn. Visual learners, for example, learn best by seeing, such as show and tell. Whereas auditory learners learn best by hearing, for example, though lectures. Your son is apparently a tactile learner. Tactile learners like him, learn best by doing, touch and movement, such as playing, drawing, making things, experiencing sensations, etc.

A. When you "flare" or "round out", you pitch the nose up slightly as you close the throttle in order to reduce your speed and rate of descent just prior to touchdown. The amount of pitch-up required primarily depends upon your airspeed and rate of descent, and it is usually only a few degrees. The slower the plane becomes, the more you have to pitch up. It is a smooth process and not hurried unless you misjudge and flare too late. In general, a 5 degree pitch up from level on the artificial horizon (attitude Indicator) would be about a maximum flare over a period of about 5 seconds. Can anyone in LE give a simple definition of what Community oriented Policing really means?
Q. I guess what I'm trying to ask is what does community oriented policing really means to Police Officers. I'm not looking for the typical explanation that explains how it is a strategy and philosophy and blah,blah,blah. I want to know exactly what it personally means to a Police Officer. Thanks.

A. Basically it means that we address the issues that the local community tells us it is concerned about. There are regular meetings to facilitate this. Most people are not overly concerned about Murders and Rapes etc unless there has recently been one in the area but litter, dog mess, noisy children, street drinking and speeding (there are many more examples) crop up as problems again and again and quite rightly as minor things affect peoples quality of life in a big way. We will then attempt to address the problems raised by targeting patrols and involving local councils and other agencies to assist where the problems are not really Police issues.
